Credit card extended warranty: do ppl still use/value them?

A few years ago, there used to be quite a bit of chat/ads and significance on extended warranty via credit cards, ive only claimed it once many years ago for a tv

Has extended warranty changed recently? My pds on my credit card doesnt look all that different

I havent bought anything recently electronic except a tv and didnt think of extended warranty, in fact i bought it with gift cards at jb which = no ext warranty

I should have used it for an apple watch that only lasted a little over 2 years…. but I forgot about the extended warranty on the credit card. I was more focussed on the manufacturer as I felt an $800 item should last longer than 2 years….

I suspect at lot of CC providers did/do hope peeps forget!

I’m not even sure if any of my cards (usually it was AMEX), still provide it but I have used in the past (a very long time ago).
 
Consumer laws these days generally make extended warranties
unnecessary and in most cases offer more protection than
warranties.

Yes I used on my lawn mower, had a one year extend warranty on my amex platinum card and the machine broke 9 months after the manufacture warranty.

They paid for the full purchase price and I asked the insurer if they want me to deliver the mower to them as required by the policy, and they kindly declined.
 
Yes I agree but how much arguing is involved dealing with teenage staff not understanding the rules?
Absolutely this … the person who’s got the decision about paying any attention to your assertion that something needs to be covered under statutory warranty is sooo very likely to just dismiss you … meaning a lot of escalation, arguing, possibly threatening legal action, possibly needing to take legal action, etc etc. As opposed to just calling the credit card provider, then they do whatever doing needs to be done.

Haplo’s mower probably should’ve been fixed under statutory warranty … I mean which average person expects a mower to die at 21 months of age? But I’ll bet it was a lot simpler getting American Express to handle it.
