Hi All,

i have a 4.5 yo CPAP machine i have to take with me overseas. i believe it is almost completely depreciated out of existence - and thus not worth much.

Do people, when taking out TI, take out any special coverage for their older machines, or just hope for the best and treat it as "normal" luggage, which generally might pay out up to $750.00 - in some policies - (RACQ and Covermore).

any advice would be most appreciated as always.

TIA

I always travel long haul with a Resmed S8 machine which are now pretty old. I have machines in Perth, Melbourne and Sydney and I have stopped using the humidifiers to reduce the size of what I carry. I have been using the Martin Grant eye masks to have undisturbed sleep.
I found the battery packs I bought some years ago had lost their oomph so I got two made up by Battery World in Perth and I am happy with them as they are lighter and last longer. This fixes a problem if the plane has a dodgy power supply or a hotel has no power point near the bed.
I use a Tumi adaptor to plug into the wall socket when I am overseas.
Having the thought of losing a machine I would be ok with $750 seeing the 4 machines cost a total of $6,800 quite a long time ago.
