COVID-19 and Tennis

Matt Ebden launched a attack on McGowan after their loss in the Men’s Doubles Final last night and claimed he probably wouldn’t have played in the AO had he know that McGowan was going to backflip on border opening.
His heavily pregnant wife is back in Perth and he will now have to serve his 14 day quarantine period and most likely miss the birth of his child
Yes I heard a discussion about this earlier in the week. This was before he made the finals. It's disgraceful. Bitter sweet. Do I not make it to the Final but get to see the birth?

In 2012, I paid $390 each to watch Djokovic play Murray in the Final...these were the cheapest tickets and right up in the grandstand! Tickets are getting so expensive now, not to mention flights to Mel and hotel costs!
In pre internet days tickets were sold at Ticketmaster agencies. Our local was inside the local newsagency - in Oct when AO tickets went on sale we would all turn up to get a ‘spot’ in the q. We were given a sheet with our number and the matches we wanted tix for. Usually we got there at 5am then home until the tills opened at 9am!! We all went back to our spots in the Q later, then a bell would ring and the staff would madly source tickets (you’d take anything) and take payments. Every now and then you’d hear ‘NO MORE MENS FINALS TICKETS!’ followed by the subsequent big ticket items. I still have those early sheets and 2002 mens final tickets went for $194😀

I haven't tried to do this for finals but I have successfully done this in the past for matches up to the round of 16 - either the day before, or on the morning of the day you want to go, check Ticketmaster because often there are corporate seats available which are returned tickets. You pay about $100 and get to sit in a fantastic spot, a few rows behind where they often show Rod Laver sitting when he's watching. No food or beverage entitlements included, but an absolutely stellar view plus good celebrity spotting.

I guess some have more cash to burn than others ;)

Small business owners who normally work 6 days per week in a service industry and booked their flights and hotel room on points, is that what you mean?

Our flights were on VA $69 each direction x 2 pax. Leave Sydney 0800 Sat and return 1900 Sun.

Combined with 4 x platinum upgrades from choice or above fares - that means round trip SYD-MEL for less than $300 in business.

😂😂
so much excitement
..even a pitch invader
when I saw her drop onto the court I thought she would need the medics before the police… how she did not break her legs is beyond me !!!

Was the pitch invader trying to push some agenda? It looked like she had a sign, but the coverage on 9 is obviously going to avoid promoting anything they might put up
