COVID-19 and Tennis

Although he actually isn't seen in a good light by all in the disabled community. Some are aggrieved at him due to some dispute over the extent of his disability.
That is interesting. What is their concern? I’ve not heard this.
I think he is an exceptional role model

On a (trivial) note - and I may be tilting at windmills - but reAsh’s match last night… great commentary by Casey/Jelena but who goes onto the court to do the prime time live to air interview? JC of course …

I don't know, but I wouldn't expect any large group of people all to hold the same opinion about anything, whether the label for the large group is 'disabled' or 'Australian' or 'AFF member' or whatever. I'd be more surprised if they were unanimous.

Except about Rafa being a champion. Nobody could possibly disagree with that 😜😂

Love Rafa
and Dylan …
take your point.. a pity such an impressive decent man and role model (he himself said he got into tennis because he admired Pat Rafter and wanted to do what other kids do.) ‘could’ be a source of division 🤷

I agree with you. I think it's to do with the level of mobility he has. I have seen him labelled as a "fake quad"

I think he is great at what he does on court and even better at his efforts off it

Back to the original subject on the sins of Novax. A new study casts a lot of doubt on whether he was more risky than vaccinated players.

The study analysed the risk of getting Delta compared to the risk of those most likely to get it, in other words, people who had neither been vaccinated nor infected in the past by the beginning of October.

Those that had been vaccinated but never infected with COVID-19 were six times less likely to get it in California, and about five times less likely in New York.

But the risk was even lower for previously infected but not vaccinated individuals: by 29 in California, and by 15 in New York.

When analysing the risk of hospitalisation, this time in California only, the researchers found a similar reversal between the two periods.

The reason is that natural infection is better at stimulating a T cell response which is longer lasting than the short acting antibody response.

Ummm...he was infected twice - so doesn't that mean Djokovic's previous infection (in 2020) before October 2021 was pretty useless???

Also, didn't I read an article posted on AFF forum that Omicron antibodies/T cells are not that long lasting???

I am hoping that he will be a positive influence and seek solutions. I hope his trip to commemorate his award has a positive effect on his last match in the Open. I think it's a fabulous award this year and I usually don't agree with sportspeople being awarded Australian of the Year but this is so different.
Agree regards sportspeople who already have recognition and financial compensation. DA on the other hand is a great ambassador for his sport, the disabled and the country generally and a positive roll model to every able bodied or disabled / disadvantaged person. He is a very positive person and the right choice for once.
Every time Warragamba Dam overflows I am forced to think of the appalling choice of the Gillard govt.

Patty Mills had a tough year to be nominated.

How appalling to hear that said about him. Good luck Dylan - I am sure you will do great work in the next 12 months . People who would call him a ‘fake quad’ are beyond reach

Personally I think that unlikely.

Wasn’t it great how Matt Ebden gave a serve (!) to MarkMcClown.… in his on court interview he was worried he may not get back to Perth to see new baby unless he gets dispensation from the leader 😂😂😂
