Oh yes they do indeed.

OK, I have accumulated a bunch of points. Mrs asg29e is WP. Now join the dots....

But it seems like they recognised you as the earner! That's really nice of you but curious to know your strategy in doing that. :)

Wouldn't be CC spend for me then.

In the last 12 months it's only been 11,600 points via CC, and 181,000 points via flights.

I don't think QF would have any trouble identifying whose CC is earning points, and if that is truly their rationale for sending invitations to the coughtail evening it would be a fairly simple exercise for them to sort out who has earned what and how.

As for my strategy, I don't have one. Except, like many others on this forum, paying for everything on CC. In my case it was the marriage of Amex Qantas Ultimate and the ATO.. said marriage about to end in tears and divorce on July 21.

So it may be that QF lied to Mrs asg29e then. (Haha. They wouldn't do that would they?)
Possibly as an excuse as to why she was overlooked in the first place.

Yes. I'm having that divorce too. But why not yourself instead of your +1

Not quite sure what you mean by that. If you are asking why aren't I flying heaps and getting the value from the points, it is because until recently Mrs asg29e has more free time than I do to go flitting round on JASAs using up all my points. That said, I have just looked at my forward bookings and I can see about 1500 SCs coming my way in the next 8 months..

Meanwhile I hope to be the only SG at the coughtail evening. Do I have to wear a special hat or something?

No special hat required, just bring your shoe cleaning gear! :D:D:D

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that if they're launching a travel money card, the invites are sent to FF's who've done a lot of international travel lately, or have some booked? I'd qualify for both, although I eagerly await seeing Kina as a currency on their card.

Invites are sent to the highest points earners based on data from previous events.

In the wake of QF81/82 I have received an invitation to a QFF coughtail evening with Lesley Grant.

Has anyone else been a recipient?

I was interested to read the CBR coughtail thread, and my invitation specifically includes an invitation for a +1.

Now, what to wear?
I sent a whiny email to Qantas that they hadn't replied to my request to go to the Canberra coughtail party and received a very nice reply saying that they had added me to the guest list, but the message letting me know that "must have gone astray". So it would appear that +1s are indeed welcome and I am very sad not to have known I could go.....

do you have to ask? something to do with thumbs and being there-under perhaps. Running for cover here.

“Just checked my emails tonight and I've got an invite as well.

I get back home on April 28 after 2 weeks in China and the last week in Korea (providing Kim Jong-Un doesn't nuke it while I'm there), and flying on QF128 from HKG-SYD in Y+, so hopefully QF will be nice and upgrade me.

Maybe the AFF'ers attending can arrange to meet somewhere nearby prior to the event, or wear some form of AFF identification"

I'll be in that but timing may be an issue. Maybe suggestion of post function function?

I can make up some DYKWIA badges!:D

As it finishes at 7.30, maybe dinner afterwards somewhere close... *gently places Pandora's box on the ground and steps away*

As nice as a post function dinner would be, I think the divorce papers would be on the table if I told my wife I was going out to dinner 3 days after I got home from 3 weeks of travelling :(.

DYKWIA badges will have to do it for me.....

With the help of a PA, I have got one sheet of sticky-label badges that say "Bring Back QF81". Does anyone else want one except me? If there's more than 14 takers I will need to print out more.

If theres any spare +1's we (My partner and myself) will be in Adelaide on May 1st... just throwing it out there :)

Might be a bit controversial :)

PS: How about "don't touch our ASAs"?

;)

I agree that it is a bit controversial.

Qantas is inviting people to a 'party' and then you want to wave a red flag in their face. I think you would achieve much more by approaching them with goodwill and some serious questions about why they have, or are, doing things.

I trust people have researched some good questions to ask :?:
