A very specific question, I know, but you folk are so smart and we'll informed.

I'm looking at flights from Sydney to Vancouver on Air Canada using Virgin points.

If buying from Air Canada, a child ticket seems to be 75% of the cost of an adult. Is there a difference when using Virgin points?

There doesn't seem to be, but maybe it doesn't show until quite late in the booking process, as there must be at least one adult in the booking, and it initially shows you the cost for one person, not the whole group.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I believe a child ticket (aged 2-11) is the same price as an adult when redeeming Velocity points. (There will likely be a difference in the taxes, though.)

I am not aware of any program where the points cost of a child's award ticket is discounted from an adult, unlike the cash fares which are routinely 75% for children and 10% for lap infants for international itineraries. (Anyone who knows of such a program should feel free to correct me.)

But yes, it's possible the cash tax/fee component of an award is reduced for children.
