Converting Star Alliance points to Velocity - really possible?

Hi everyone, I have a quick question today. I would just like confirmation if my theory is actually possible, or if anyone has successfully done what I am going to try and do:

I am a VA Platinum and where possible try my best to fly their Network both domestic and internationally. The black hole, from my perspective, is Canada. My home city is Toronto and with AC flying 6x direct per day from LAX to YYZ I find it hard to go with Delta as by the time I get off the SYD - LAX leg the last thing I want to do is connect via JFK or ATL. I usually just travel with AC and credit to Aeroplan, in the hopes that some day I will be able to redeem a long haul in J with them (every day this seems more unlikely).

It just occurred to me today that I should open a Krisflyer acct, and credit any of my AC flights them, then transfer over to Velocity. Has anyone actually done this successfully with any other *A partners? I realise I won't get any SC's, but I get enough to re-qualify with my other travel so I'm really just after the points.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

If you credit any point to SQ krisflyer they can be transferred. (minimum of 5000 points at a time) Just make sure the fare buckets you book into are eligible for points earn with them. they have a 3 year expiry so just be careful of that. otherwise all good to go. the transfer rates are 1.35 SQ points to 1 VA point so you will lose some.
