I just wanted to bring to Virgin's attention that there is some contradictary, or at the very least, confusing and unhelpful, information on their website.

Following links from the Velocity site to Gold (or Platinum) Tier Member benefits then the link to additional baggage allowances, the tables state that for long haul international flights, extra baggage allowances only apply when travelling on VA operated or codeshare services. There is a further link to the Codeshare and Interline Partner Webpage, which refers queries about flights to the middle east or europe to the Etihad Airways baggage rules webpage. Following the link from there to Know Your Baggage Limits takes you to a page which lists only standard allowances and additional allowances for Etihad Guest members. There is no information for Velocity Members.

So the impression one would get following this set of links to their conclusion is that there are no extra baggage allowances for Gold or Platinum Velocity Members flying on an EY flight unless they have booked through VA on a codeshare flight and have a ticket with a VA flight number.

However, when you start from the Virgin website instead, and select the "Experience" tab and follow the link to "Airline partners>Etihad Airlines Alliance>Baggage" you see different information.
This has a table with the additional baggage allowances.

This caused confusion for a forum member who was flying out of Abu Dhabi tonight, and who had less than optimal internet access. Fortunately we were able to find the right answer for him.
However, it would be good if this could be fixed.

IMHO there really should be a link from the Velocity Tier Status Benefits pages to the Airline Partners pages which provide details of the benefits Velocity Tier members enjoy with partner airlines.
It is passing strange that these pages are only accessible from the Virgin website - and not from the Velocity website - when the benefits come from Velocity status!
