In mid Jan I'm finishing an OW J Award with the following:
JL017 YVR-NRT 1305-1625 connecting with JL711 NRT-SIN 1755-0045(+1)

How long should I leave for a connection in SIN?

Factors I'm considering include:
- possible weather delay due to mid winter departure from YVR.
- 90min connection time in NRT doesn't allow for delays.
- JL only operate one flight per day, so a misconnect could cost 24h.

Given it will be a different PNR to the award and possibly not a OW airline, how soon do you think I can safely I book an onward flight to either BNE with SQ, or PER with QF?

Do you want to factor for a misconnect in NRT as to following from SIN? That would be difficult to predict and you may lose 1 day. Do you want to plan a stopover in SIN?

If you arrive in SIN at 00:45 then in theory any morning flight should be ok. Don't think there are any flights after that time that night.

Personally I'd rather not stopover in SIN as I visit often enough. But if I book an onward flight just a few hours later and there is a delay in either of the two JL sectors, I won't be protected, especially if I choose SQ. If I choose QF there might be slightly more room to plead my case but technically no protection due to different PNRs.

I guess my questions boil down to: how frequently does weather cause significant delays at YVR? For those with JL experience, how likely is it that 90 min connection time at NRT will be sufficient? And given my itinerary above, how long would you leave to be comfortable?
