Connection at LHR on separate tickets

Please forgive me if this has been discussed in another thread. I searched quite hard for the answer but couldn't find it.
I'm arriving at LHR on QF1 at around 6am into terminal 3.
I then have an Icelandair flight to Reykjavik from terminal 2 at 12.20pm.
The two flights are on separate tickets so no checking bags through to Reykjavik.
While I have left more than enough connection time, I'm not sure whether I need to go through immigration etc? Do I go through immigration and collect my luggage and then head to terminal 2? Do you get a grilling from immigration when you are just 'passing through'?
Or is there a process airside that I can follow?

If your bags haven't been check through you will need to enter the UK to collect them and then head off to Iceland Air for check in. Not sure the flight frequency of Iceland Air - but checkin probably only opens around three hours before?

If you would normally be immigration cleared you're not likely to encounter any problems with immigration. They may or may not ask you some questions. But that is standard. needing to re-check is a fairly common reason to need to enter a country. (And they're getting revenue from taxes your tickets for doing this, so they're not really worried about you taking up their time )

It sure does. Plenty of selfies and beer pics along with a couple of scenery pics which won't be nearly as entertaining.

It depends on which agent you get. In most cases, there won't be a problem. In some cases, you'll get an agent who doesn't understand what "collecting baggage, changing terminals and rechecking" means.

As above, you'll have to go through immi. Luckily for you, T2 and T3 are connected by an underground walkway so no train required. You can follow the signs to Heathrow Express/Underground & T2. It's one long walk but mostly travellators so not too bothersome. T2s not a bad terminal and from what I've seen the Iceland Air leave from the satelitte which is a bit more peaceful but another 10 min walk along travellators.

Hopefully it's a quick story rather than an actual saga. (In my case it would be saggy class!)
