Hi all,
Recent member and just now professionally getting international business flights.

Was looking at connecting through Hong Kong from Mel to Europe. Was wondering if 90 minutes is long enough to safely make a connection on 2 different ticketed flights.

I'll be traveling alone, Qantas into HKG and Qatar out (So same terminal I think) and wasn't planning to check any luggage.

Otherwise, would a travel agent be able to connect those 2 flights together on the 1 ticket? It's not available on any online sites , but they are both One world.

Thanks for including me on this site, is been really useful.
Cheers

I believe a travel agent should be able to book the two tickers on one PNR giving you protection should your inbound flight cause you to miss your outbound.

While 90 minutes is enough there is no way I would risk it without connection protection.

The risk is not the physical connection time in HKG but the potential delay on the inbound flight. If you have it as a single ticket, they will know about your connection and either expedite you to make your next flight, or they have the responsibility of getting you to your destination.

It's possible but I've struggled with 2 and 3 hour connections admittedly with checked luggage.

In my case I'm not too concerned about being covered for missed connection but more worried about lost hotel bookings, car hire bookings and other flights at destination.

Last time I went through HK with CX to CX connection I still had to go through transfer security which took some time (30+ mins). Definitely get those flights issued on one ticket

Thanks all, very helpful. I'll speak to an agent.

Does anyone have any recommendations for agents who understand maximising status credits etc?

Thanks again

You should PM madrooster. He may be able to advise you.
