Hello,
I am new at this so any advise would be appreciated.
Basically I need to get from Barcelona to Perth with a stopover in Singapore flying business class if possible. There is only one flight a day ex Barcelona.
I think I have found three options.
1) On the day I need to travel the saver seats are waitlisted as expected but there are standard seats available. When I go to book the standard seat with a stopover in Singapore, as I am entitled to as I am booking a one way standard seat, the Barcelona - Singapore leg reverts back to a waitlist situation for the standard seat and the standard seat Singapore - Perth leg is still readily available. Is this normal?
2) I have waitlisted a business saver seat for the Barcelona - Singapore leg as the Singapore - Perth leg is still easily booked separately but I do not like my chances of getting the Barcelona - Singapore leg. Should I book an economy saver seat Barcelona - Singapore as a back up and book the business saver Singapore - Perth?
3) I can book Barcelona - Singapore - Denpasar business class standard seat for a little more points than the Barcelona - Singapore standard seat. Should I book this and cancel the Singapore - Denpasar leg when I arrive? The Singapore - Perth leg is not a problem. Will I be charged for the cancellation?
Sorry if I have confused everyone but any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think you can't book an award seat and waitlist for another award seat on the same flight.

Basically you are saying there are standard KrisFlyer seats for BCN-SIN-PER (as a married flight but not a 2 separate sectors) and with possibly a stopover allowed. However there are only waitlist seats saver or standard for BCN-SIN and open availability for SIN-PER.
Yes that's not unusual for that to happen.

There is obviously a chance you won't get the waitlisted saver for BCN-SIN in which case you will have to cancel SIN-PER if you have no other way of getting to SIN.

For the BCN-SIN-DPS option: Im not sure what happens if you don't show up for your SIN-DPS flight. I think you don't get any points back because it will be on one ticket (married flights) and when you board at the start you have agreed to end your flight at DPS.

Only you can decide what to do. None here have crystal ball gazing ability. Seems like you have 2 clear choices that will give certainty:
Standard seats BCN-SIN-PER or economy saver BCN-SIN + business saver SIN-PER.

Waitlisting is not a certainty and becomes complicated for multi sector itineraries

There might be one way paid options on the usual budget airlines between DPS-PER

I had this same issue when I tried to book a Business-First award from PER-SIN-LHR.

It is called 'married segments'. It means that even though there two individual available segments, when paired together the system availabilities change (ie when you put a stopover in)

Just search up the term 'married segments'

* On a previous award redemption, I booked a PER-SIN-LHR saver award and tried to change the first PER-SIN flight to an earlier 'available' flight but was unable to do so again due to married segments issue. I did call again the next day and the agent somehow managed to unlock the earlier flight - but I think I just got lucky - maybe tried to call the agent?
