Later this year I will be flying from Venice to LHR with BA arriving T5. I then have to board a CX Flight to HK at T1.

Will I be considerd as in Transit or will I have to go through immigration ie enter UK and then depart UK again a few hours later.

You will be in transit and follow Flight Connections on arrival into LHR. There are transit buses between the terminals.
CX use T3 for flights to HKG, so check your itinerary
