I guess it depends whether you believe that this community exists to help people or to make things harder for them...

How about looking at the positive side...? :shock: The new thread (although originally with the erroneous "MASA" terminology) is a great "summary" of BOOKINGS ALREADY MADE...so has NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL BOOKING PROCESS...

How about you stop criticising about a small clerical issue, and be more constructive & helpful to the AFF community with additional input other than complaining. If you don't like the thread I created that's unfortunate I guess, but I am sure many others will be thankful of me taking the time to create it...

Anyway, you have clearly voiced your complaint now, and of course I could have said "why didn't you create the thread in the first place, that way I could complain about you", but I'm of the opinion that nobody's perfect, even you

Selecting ASA's online was just so easy to do at ones leisure, able to compare and find flights and all in view, the removal and having to go find Classic, then call up is just an inconvenience with many operators are still not trained, which then makes it frustrating. Surely can't be that hard to have it back online, but looks now to be done with.

one of the advantages if NOT having status any award seat I see available as a classic should be available to me as an mASA... none of this phantom availability that is open to thems with status

The trouble with a "successful bookings" thread, is that it is often the first place that people will look, to see what is available and at what cost. I have been looking for AA and LM bookings in the respective "success" thread before booking one. So it is natural that a reader would pick up on the terminology used. I think it is good that 'marginal' is not in the thread title, and we should limit its use elsewhere without some form of explanation. The majority of QF CSAs are not aware of it, nor does it appear in the Right on Q info sheet they have.

We could use xASA (as opposed to XASA), UASA, CLASA (CLassic Any Seat Award). Even JASA is still viable as an acronym.

As it's now into the 3rd month, any ideas as to continued availability of telephone M/JASA in October, or will it end on 30 September?
It will influence my itinerary.

Getting to the AFL grand final on points sees us doing a longcut thru Brisbane then on to Melbourne from Perth. Got business class for two so it isn't too bad.

Why does it matter what I think? Everyone thinks I am the villain here. Why?

I have an opinion that some here do not necessarily agree with. I do not like Any Seat awards earning SCs and QFF points. Never did. Right from the start. I do not understand the comparison with YUPs/KUPs or cheap Asia runs.

But that is not the point. It would appear that Qantas also thinks the el-cheapo Any Seat awards were a mistake and are under review and may end up disappearing.

If that is the case you will find a different way to earn status. You will evolve. If you really want to go somewhere then you may end spending the same amount of points on a Classic award. Isn't that what people were doing for many years until 2 years ago?

I use them but I buy tickets too, to try and stay there as WP. my wife and I have just had 2 PAID tickets in Business from Melbourne to Singapore return.

Without status I would not be spending that sort of dollars.

qantas definitly sell these ASA tickets cheap but they keep the planes full and because they provide them I think lots of people like me spend their hard cash as well which otherwise might not have been spent

We will just have to disagree on that one.

Qantas would not be making much money on some of these bookings. With the example I highlighted earlier the taxes & surcharge component on the Any Seat award are much less than a cheap red e-deal on that route. The points cost is minimal and you earn 4x the economy SCs and you also earn QFF points to offest the minimal cost in points for the Any Seat award.

Lets not compare them to Classic awards. Clearly earning 480 SCs (960 SCs with a double SCs offer) is worth a whole lot more than the $10-$15 surcharge some people think should be levied.

It is a good little loophole. Make the most of it while it is there. It is not the end of the world if these disappear. Is it?

What confuses me though John is the Double Status Credit offers that get handed out... these are FREE SC's so isn't that a problem itself...?

It makes no sense for the cheap Any Seat awards to continue regardless of what some on AFF may think.

I'm going to have to start barracking against 140k RTW awards as if they were Collingwood.

Beyond that, there's little point arguing with someone who takes 21,864 posts to express around four different views.

Which go's against Qantas who love handing these offers out, hence perhaps Qantas show only modest value on SC's...?

I think that lottery is wrong as well. Some people have it way too easy. Time and time again. Or should I feel happy for them for getting something for nothing?
