Hi guys,

Just a query about use of complimentary Qantas Club invites I got from a HSBC credit card...

I was all set to give two to some friends who are doing a trip to the US in a couple of weeks on Fiji Air. Then the thought occurred to me that these aren't like oneworld cards and that they might not be able to use them after all :(. From something I found doing a google on this it didn't seem to positive - suggesting onward flight needs to be on QF/Jetstar metal, not oneworld partners or anything. Anyhow, the one possible twist maybe that on the back of these cards, it just says the holder needs to be "travelling that day on a Qantas or Jetstar flight". Before flying from Sydney off to the US, one of the travellers is flying into Sydney on Qantas from a regional destination. Will that count? Or will it be a definite no go since the onward flight is not QF? I've suggested now to them after my initial offer that it's probably not going to work - just thought I'd check with some experts. Thanks!

If travelling on Fiji Airways your friends will need to be travelling on QF flight # to access the lounge

I have something similar - in Singapore I can get my mum and 4yr old in as I am Gold - but we are flying finnair to Helsinki so the only way my dad can get in with the guest pass is by me buying him a Jetstar ticket back to KL cheap that leaves late and just no show it.

That seems like a lot of effort for a few snacks/drinks, not to mention annoying for the jetstar passengers. Why not try the old "take the mum and child in then come back out later for the dad" trick?
