Complimentary credit card travel insurances - Any adequate ones?

My additional card holder tried to get an existing condition covered and the answer was no, without asking what condition and how its being managed - so i think it’s a hard no.
From my dealings with Amex (Ultimate) TI, when Chubb took over a few years back now, they nixed all pre existing and also domestic car rental @muppet @MEL_Traveller

$45 fee for pre existing if conditions accepted with Allianz using our Westpac Platinum Mastercard.
Also good for domestic car rental.

I have the explorer Amex card. Recently had to make a claim for an interstate hire car. Gave them all the details needed and got the full amount within 2 weeks. My credit card annual fee paid for itself 10x over on that one claim.

Out of curiosity, was there any difference between the Amex Expl cover ($5k) and the LDW excess? The LDW excess is creeping up for some companies. Europcar is $5,950 now. Can't seem to readily find Hertz's.
