I have J QF classic reward booking SYD - MNL - SYD for Mrs SS and I on one PNR. Mrs SS now wants to make a short visit to HK at the end of our trip and return from there, if necessary buying a HKG - SYD flight separately. I will travel as per original booking. So is it possible to:
  1. Split our booking into 2 separate bookings?. If so does this constitute a change incurring a change fee?
  2. Subsequently change her booking into a SYD - MNL - land (sea?) - HKG - SYD or if no availability on HKG - SYD just make it a one way SYD - MNL?
I am lowly PS while Mrs SS has recently risen to WP. The original booking was made under my FF account so very low chance of me getting through to Hobart.

Any advice on how to proceed would be much appreciated.

Yes this is doable, it doesn't incur a change fee in my experience. In most cases you can also do this yourself online in MMB (there's usually an option along the left near "resend tax invoice") which even allows you to select who will be on the new PNR and who remains on the existing PNR - useful if you have DSC considerations.

If you don't see an option online you can do it via the call centre.

Yes this is doable, but will incur a change fee and any points/taxes differences.

Forgot to add, when you make the changes to your partner's booking, you should be able to request award inventory for the HKG-SYD leg (and I reckon you have a very good chance of approval)

Thanks @sudoer. I have successfully split our bookings. It didn't work on Chrome but succeeded on Edge. Mrs SS will call up to make the flight changes and request a reward seat to be opened from HKG to SYD.

Award inventory requested and approved so HKG - SYD on QF128 in J. Mrs SS did not get the exact day she wanted but the day after which is fine.
