If I have a booking

SYD-HKG
HKG-SYD-BNE

and I don't fly on the last leg SYD-BNE will I still get he status credits for the SYD-HKG and HKG-SYD segments

Reason is its cheaper to book the above than SYD-HKG return by over $1000

I’ve heard that you may be charged the difference but given you have to collect luggage in Sydney anyway then I’m thinking anything could make you miss the domestic leg.....

The SC are per sector so you should get the SC but not the SYD-BNE.
Like @Pushka I can think of so many reasons you could not make the last connection.

It is possible they may re price the HKG-SYD-BNE as a HKG-SYD.

Just so you don't inconvenience others, when you clear SYD international tell a QF person that a family emergency has arisen and you have to stay in SYD.

This will ensure they're not looking for you and they know you haven't checked luggage on the domestic leg. They may even be able to use the seats for other pax.


Oh and Google "hidden city ticketing" to fully appreciate what you're doing.
