Companies no longer allowed to charge excessive credit card fees

I was actually happy w the $30 charge for int'l tickets. Say at 1.4% a $5k tkt will now cost $70. But I guess the cheap Y tickets have been subsidising the more expensive J's so it's 'not fair'.

Having said that I agree with others and think the price advertised should be the price charged (maybe surcharging the 'expensive' payment methods like AMEX & Diners is ok but limiting surcharge-free option to obscure methods like POLI is stupid).

Amex is not necessarily more expensive when compared to the Black/Infinite/World cards offered by Visa and Mastercard.

Sorry yes - should have said its ok to surcharge the 'Premium Cards' as I think they are called - which include Amex and Diners, but also all the top end versions of MC and Visa (for which high commissions are charged by the issuer).

Hmmm, you and I agree twice in a month

As far as I'm concerned, the cost of taking money is part of the cost of doing business and is also tax deductible.

Nailed it.
There is a myth that businesses accept credit card payments because it is a benefit and convenience for the consumer, and the consumer should therefore pay for it.
Garbage.
Businesses accept credit card payments to increase their revenue. The cost of this is just a normal cost of doing business.

Funny enough I didn't see any surcharge for Amex.
Though $90 for "credit card" fees was probably already enough to cover it haha.

Not only increase their revenues, but do they really want to be collecting hundreds of millions of dollars in cash, counting and securing that cash, and banking it? Credit card is just as much a convenience for the airline as it is for pax.
