Hi
I've searched through the AFF database, but couldn't find the answer to this. My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere.

The week after next we're flying Etihad MEL to LHR via AUH.

We're flying J class and I'm wondering how comfortable the seats/beds are. It's a 777 from MEL to AUH and then the A380 from AUH to LHR. So far I've done J in 777s from SYD to LAX or YVR on Virgin, United and Air Canada. Virgin seats were blissful as they have a mattress topper between your bum and the seat. Air Canada and United while fully flat, have lumps and bumps and were too uncomfortable to get much sleep at all (I'm an insomniac side sleeper).

This time I'm thinking of taking a compact, inflatable camping mat to put on the seat/bed... unless someone can reassure me that Etihad has mattress toppers (or comfy seats). Same deal for the A380. Are these seats comfortable enough to actually get some sleep?

I know this is a first world problem, but then so is spending $5k to fly J class to Europe.

Last month took my first EY J flights. Jakarta to AUH, then AUH via SIN to BNE. No mattress topper on any, but I've got a feeling they are on the cards. ( I think I read it somewhere). Seat was comfortable enough to get some sleep, albeit they were all 8 hr sectors.

Hope that helps

Yes they have mattress toppers and pyjamas on the mel-auh leg. You may need to ask for it though. The seats are not lumpy anyway ime. These are only offered on 'ultra long haul'. Flights over 12 hrs or so.

Excellent. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I checked everywhere and couldn't find an answer. Might take my sleeping mat anyway, just in case. ;)
