Come on Qantas!

What??? This comment is just outright rude towards staff that is a bit older or not perfect model size. Again, to me this entire comment is just downright rude and discriminatory, nothing else.

This was certainly not my intention, I am neither ageist or weightist and nor do I care about visual appearance per se. I do however care about crew performance and clearly some are unable to perform safely and professionally because they are completely unfit for the role and should be re-tasked within the company. You can't tell me you'd hire a 1 legged man to join an ar*e kicking company just because you don't want to be discriminatory!

My comments are completely factual, based on what I have observed on long haul QF which I take every 2 weeks and have for some time.

Meh.

And I suspect in many cases this would be difficult to ascertain. There have been reports of young FAs that weren't strong enough to open doors on a 737 during an emergency. Great if a door is power assisted, but if it's not, or the power assist fails, you might just want someone with a bit of muscle :)

What goes around, comes around. If you are nice to the crew, they are nice to you as well regardless of your upbringing, background etc.

Except with Qantas. That's half the point of this thread.

But agree - it doesn't matter your upbringing or background... if they're having a bad day it is indiscriminate.

...Ageing often rude and arrogant staff and crew (particularly towards Asian customers) and obesity is an issue …

Rudeness, arrogance and obesity can apply to both young and old.

...I do however care about crew performance and clearly some are unable to perform safely and professionally because they are completely unfit for the role

My understanding is that crew undertake periodic assessments of the safety and other aspects of their job ... (Not sure whether you are a qualified assessor in this field)
