I'm travelling to North America in Aug-Oct (on my own steam) and I'd like to fly J if possible. I'll be in Central America mostly (Nicaragua) but I'll spend a bit of time in the US at the start and at the end of the trip.

Ideally, I'd like to fly SYD-DFW or SYD-MIA and return LAS-SYD/BNE (I'm in NTL so either will do - probably prefer BNE on the way back and get a connecting flight to NTL).

The trouble is I've left it too late and the J fares for anything other than LAX are way over the top (for what I suggested about is 10-12K) - but SYD-LAX in J return for this period is around 6K. I'm happy with that.

Is there any way I can book this and then add on AA domestic flights to the booking (happy for Y)? I hate LA and I don't really want to overnight there, but also don't want the risk of missing connecting flights, especially on return to Australia.

I've got shedloads of QF points (around half a million) so I can book QF award flights, but I thought I read they won't connect award and revenue bookings any more. Ideally, I'd like to fly SYD-LAX-DFW/MIA and return LAS-LAX-BNE-NTL. (I'm indifferent about DFW/MIA as they are the two ports AA fly to MGA from).

If anyone has any tips on how to achieve this, that would be great. Happy to go to a travel agent if that's what is required.

Also - needs to be oneworld (pref Qantas). I'm QF Gold and need this to requalify - I know I can fly other airlines in J for about half the price on this journey.

Send me a PM with your routing, dates etc. and I'll have a look at what might work for you. You can combine NTL fares onto an international and avoid the GST as well on a domestic ticket.
