Combine two separate QR redemptions possible?

Hi, apologies if this has been asked before, but I've searched but was not able to find the answer.

Is it generally possible to combine two separate QR redemptions on Velocity? So basically I am looking for a Europe - Australia flight for later this year (Haven't decided which European city yet, but for argument's sake, let's say it is FCO).

So far I have found good business rewards availability on the Doha to Australia leg (e.g. MEL, PER, BNE, ADL), but if I searched FCO - Australia, then the only seats available are Economy.

I am just wondering if there is any way to combine two rewards booking redemptions, i.e. If I make separate redemptions for FCO - DOH on Economy and then DOH - MEL on Business, will the Velocity customer service person be able to combine the bookings?
Or should I be making the separate redemptions via phone call?

I'm also curious. I know it's definitely possible, what I'm wondering is can you check the luggage through to the final destination, and/or can they put them on one ticket over the phone.

I’ve combined separate Europe to DOH and DOH to Oz J rewards with sub-24h layovers onto a single ticket in the past by calling. Unfortunately the online booking engine is a bit rudimentary and struggles where flights are on separate days.

So call - the worst that can happen is they say no.

have you been able to get them to combine a VA domestic ticket with a QR ticket (redeemed through Velocity)? Or is it only for QR tickets for both legs?

You need to call. I done that a few time
Hey MELso and nthd_nthd, when you called the contact centre to do this, was there any specific wording that you used?
I know the outcome can be a bit of luck of the draw depending on who answers, and that you really need to be clear with the agent about what you’re trying to achieve. I’m just wondering whether there’s a particular “magic” word or phrase that helps them understand the request.

Similar to OP I am looking at Munich > Doha > Sydney in J. Both legs are available separately with a five‑hour layover, but for some reason they aren’t showing as a single ticket on the VA booking site. I don’t love the idea of booking two separate tickets and taking the risk if the first flight is delayed.
