Collect boarding pass at airport - why-trivia open for responses

Happened to me a few months ago, was doing a SYD-AKL-BNE-SYD status run and had to go to the counter. Seems they were overloaded on the AKL-BNE leg and wanted me to change to SYD-AKL-SYD. Once I mentioned Status Run, she probably realised there was no way I was giving up the SCs or the comfortable business class leg in a non-737, and checked me in.

You wouldn't have given up the status credits - you could have easily requested ORC and saved yourself a few unnecessary hours in the air.

In the distant past, but experiences

- clicked wrong button on dangerous goods
- I selected exit row seat
- they wanted to move me (to meet other passenger requirement (sit together or bassinet)
- offered me to move exit row but needed to check if I was fit and able
- checking connection to another flight
- got a last minute upgrade for a no show
- had no idea why, maybe glitch

Also being on a one way ticket can generate a further check at the airport.

The dangerous goods one is an interesting point - if I only could remember what I clicked there - maybe that was a Yes by mistake?
I've done this one myself accidentally in the past. Thankfully it ended up making check in quicker for me than doing the self check in.

I've learnt to always be careful checking into a flight on the app, especially after a late and fun night on a work trip.

My guess is that the flight is oversold. Not that you’ll be bumped necessarily, but perhaps they need to move some people around and/or you might be upgraded.

I once had this flying BNE-SYD-SIN. The SYD-SIN leg was downgraded from an A380 to an A330 the night before. At checkin in BNE domestic, the agent told me “it says here that I should offer you a seat on the direct BNE-SIN”.

This was def us on the way home from LA, check in said they had "negative seats" because an A380 does not fit onto a 787.
