Hi all

Looking for some suggestions / views from the team as to why I just did online check-in and got a "Collect boarding pass at airport"? I am doing this trip fairly often and have never had this message appear.

Fact pattern:

- Australian passport holder, with passport valid until 2033
- Frequent traveller SIN - SYD either direct or indirect
- Doing QF36 followed by QF420 (no MCT issue as far as I can see)
- QF36 seems ram full, although I have an upgrade request in for J and sufficient point balance. No upgrade request came through so far
- Leaving Australia on 20 July (SYD - MEL - SIN)
- Lawfully staying in Singapore
- Now stuck in a seat I don't want and that I cannot edit

Any bright ideas what is happening?

No. But this seems coughty. What if you wanted to early bag drop at Jewel and do a lounge crawl?

Hope you get an answer, mate.

I wouldn’t stress it too much. It’s happened to me occasionally. Once on a MEL-SYD flight for seemingly no reason and check-in agent couldn’t tell either and on a few ADL-SYD’s but on those it showed up a few hours later. Given QF’s IT there’s always gonna be something that goes wrong. You didn’t happen to check you were travelling with dangerous goods by mistake though? That could also be a reason.

Yeah, but in fairness, I've never spent 9 hours on a lounge crawl on domestic.......

Rather my point. Lad's being told to pick up a pass at the counter in Singapore. That's just a WTF.
Yeah and hence why I was saying I’ve gotten the same message before, that my boarding pass need to be collected at the airport and it wasn’t anything serious. Just Qantas IT being temperamental. Albeit only for domestic flights ime. I’m just confused what that’s has to do with a domestic lounge crawl?

Nothing. I refer back to wanting to drop bags at Jewel. The flights you referenced this had happened to you were domestic.

Heaven forbid any poor cough wants to lounge crawl QF dom offerings...

Going off topic now, but I kind of have. Almost 10 years ago I was given less then 24 hours notice to fly to MEL for a 2 hour meeting. Which meant only an early morning flight was in policy. I worked in the QP until lunch, took a cab into the city, back by 4pm. Requested on departure upgrade and headed to the J lounge.

And you still retain your sanity?

Braver man than me!

Thanks - unfortunately no time for any lounge crawl tomorrow, even though it is Singapore. My fear is that I can’t select a better seat until it is too late :-(

Booking names match - I always use this passport and book via my QF profile, APIS is also okay. No emergency exit row either.

The dangerous goods one is an interesting point - if I only could remember what I clicked there - maybe that was a Yes by mistake?

So, this one is really really strange, or just Qantas IT.

It could be the dangerous goods question but often visa related, although that normally wouldn’t be an issue for an Oz national returning home.

I often get it departing SYD for CGK on a trip > 30 days but heading on to Europe. They need to eyeball the onward ticket.

Pretty sure seat selection remains possible via the website MMB.

We had it both ways on our recent US trip, no idea why (except for the fact our flights had been cancelled and rebooked).
