CNS departure smart gates open tomorrow

Was told this morning that CNS departure smart gates will be opened tomorrow, 24/6/16.
 
A momentous day! Smart gates are not ready for arrivals?

CNS has had smart gates for arrivals for a long time now. Funny thing is, when I arrive on a charter flight they close them off and have said that they only work for commercial flights?? :confused: I can't work out why me arriving on a charter flight from PNG would be any different to me arriving on a commercial flight from PNG......the passport is still the same, the pax is still the same, so I'm wondering if there is also an arrival carrier tie-in?

I travelled to CNS international terminal from SYD until JQ ceased their SYD-CNS-Japan flights.
