Hi everyone - my question is regarding transit at CMB. Ill be flying MH SYD-KUL-CMB in J then 3 hr transit and then CMB-SIN-DXB in J/F on QF operated by EK of course. Not sure if I should check my bags from SYD all the way to DXB or go thru immigration at CMB grab bags and check in for EK flights? Just nervous about tagging my bags that far and for a long period of time - and nervous about the transit in CMB. I have applied for the visa in CMB. Can anyone recommend and give me some advice? Cheers

Some dated experience.

Did a day stopover in 2005 (my first DONE - at the time CMB was cheap), arriving in in the morning, heading into town (the waterfront and fort galle hotel are awesome, but you don't have enough time), then having to go back to the airport where they issued my printed 20 segment ticket, with stick on tax labels on each page because the field was too long (!!)

If you can do a transit I would - inside the airport is quite nice and the priority lounges were ok from memory...
Outside immigration is bedlam - people and taxi touts everywhere

I have to ask: why the crazy routing? Presume due to cheap ex-CMB fares/Dones?

Meeting a mate in KUL and was cheaper to fly CMB-SIN-DXB (and want QF points) rather than fly KUL-DXB direct with MH

So you reckon it will be okay to check my bag from SYD-KUL-CMB-SIN-DXB on a combination MH/EK then rather than worrying about recollecting bags at CMB and going thru check in again?

To collect your bags you now need a visa (well most nationalities)
Available online though I have no experience/knowledge with the transit visa (rather than tourist visa)

Happy wandering
