Well, I wasn't surprised when I received a letter dated 10 December from Don Clark, Regional GM, South West Pacific for British Airways Executive Club. it reads:

"I am writing to tell you that the British Airways Executive Club in South West Pacific region will close on 16 June 2003 and all benefits will cease...Please note that if you earn Executive Club Miles or Points in the next 6 months, any Miles or Points that remain in your account on 16 June 2003 will expire.

The decision to close our program follows a major review of the executive Club in which the benefits and key offerings to our customers were carefully evaluated."

Not hard to understand that any of us Australian Executive Club members were also members of Qantas FF; and were putting all our oneworld carrier flights on our QFF membership rather than trying to qualify under two separate tiered structures. Of course, European-based EC members are probably doing the same thing with any oneworld travel as well by booking it to their BA EC membership. It had to come sooner or later and 16 June 2003 is the date.
