Hi, looking forward to my Japan trip soon.

I am staying in Shinjuku and on Friday July 5 have one free day before flying home late on July 6.

Have any members climbed to the top of Mt Fuji and returned to Tokyo all in one day ? I know I can get an early bus to station 5 on the mountain and give it a go, but wondering what time the last transport leaves the mountain for the trip back to Tokyo that evening.

I am middle-aged and in decent shape but no Edmund Hillary ! Just wondering if it could be done and the time frame.

Thank you

Ascending/descending Fuji in one day is not recommended due to altitude sickness.

Thought I would add that if your flight's not until late on 6 July, you could stay overnight on the mountain on the 5th, summiting at sunrise on the 6th, leaving you time to descend and get back to Tokyo for your evening flight.
