SQ A380 Turbulence - Pics Showing The Mess

Found this article with pics showing the huge mess that turbulence can make during meal service.

http://ninem.sn/0AV7KAe

Unfortunately 11 pax & 1 crew were injured.

I think that the SQ crew did well to put down blankets and hand out chocs on arrival.

I assume that the A380 took an extended break in LHR for additional cleaning.

Let this be a warning to all who automatically undo their seat belts!!!

great pictures.

I have a feeling that

to put down blankets and hand out chocs on arrival.

is probably in an SQ training and operations manual somewhere which fortunately we don't get to see very often.

Re: SQ A380 Turbulence - Pics Showing The Mess

Yes you are probably right.

I 'liked' (for lack of a better word) the pic of the coffee or whatever it was plastered to the ceiling.

Re: SQ A380 Turbulence - Pics Showing The Mess

It looks like one guy may be reluctant to give up his breakfast and is seeing if there's anything salvageable to eat. So, they got chocs for brekky then.

Re: SQ A380 Turbulence - Pics Showing The Mess

The smiling faces of departing pax - with the chocolate in hand - [last photo] suggested all ended well.

What would be the response from QF facing a similar scenario ?

QF32 from SIN last year had a similar occurrence. How was the on-ground QF response ?

Anyway, that's why I would always buckle up whenever I am sitting down.

You just cannot foresee these turbulences.

The article says there were 26 crew on board ??? I have to admit I haven't counted , but Im sure it doesn't take 26 crew to operate an A380 . Im assuming that some crew were PAXing back to LHR ??

Sounds about right as you have 22-26 cabin crew on A380's and then the coughpit crews

Re: SQ A380 Turbulence - Pics Showing The Mess

Well it does sound like a very high number of crew when you have say 4 or 5 on a 737 whom deal with about 170 passengers!

Those croissants are indestructible.

The FAs look kind of shell-shocked. It must be a startle to find yourself and your trolley suddenly wedged between the overhead lockers.

Skyring - Image 8 ... ? there's only 7 images, or are you referring to the pregnant woman?

One of the other press reports about incident mentioned that fortunately, seatbelt signs were on prior to hitting the turbulence. So hopefully that was enough time to get the carts stowed.

But still, anything that can upset a Singapore Girl's hair and smile must be have been pretty serious!
