Just wondering if the baggage for this 3 leg classic award itinerary will be checked through to BNE or do I collect it in Syd and recheck it?

20:00 Singapore 06:45 Melbourne Stops: 0 JQ8 Star Class Qantas/Partner
08:30 Fri Melbourne 09:55 Sydney Stops: 0 QF416 Business
11:05 Fri Sydney 11:35 BrisbaneStops: 0 QF520 Business

Total duration: 13h 35m

I'm looking to get off in sydney but wondering if that's going to be an issue if I don't fly the last leg.

thanks

I'm pretty sure you'll have to collect. All inbound international flights require you to collect and take your luggage through customs.

You'll probably have to ask them to only check the luggage to SYD and make up some reason. Perhaps that you're meeting someone and need to give them a present or something.

Immi and Customs will ve done in MEL.
The transfer time scares me though.
Cery short.

It is highly likely that the OP will get an express path card being in JQ *Class, which will make a transit duration of an hour and 45 mins seem like an eternity.

Definitely possible to short check baggage to SYD!
