Hi,

Does anyone have a definitive list of the different classes of travel (first/business/cattle) and associated codes that they can share with the rest of us? Also - what restrictions are associated with the relevant codes.

Thanks!

Wouldnt call it a definitive list but here's my take.

Y : Full Economy
J : Business
F : First
X : Economy booked using FF miles
U : Business booked using FF miles

I believe that pretty much any other letter refers to some form of discount economy ticket.

Would be interested to get other members input and feedback.

Have a look at http://members.shaw.ca/fewmiles/AA/recht/fares.html . It's a bit terse, but generally AA fare codes can be correlated into QF codes, although some of them are rare.

I believe T on QF is preferred (plat/CL) award seating. I mostly fly K class, which is discount economy but fully flexible (also noted on AA table).

This table can prove quite useful when trying to determine actual availability on flights when using ITN or other Galileo-based systems which shows fare-class availability. You can work out how full a flight is and what chances you have of getting a special-request award flight...

SFU Class ?

Anyone got any advice on how to get SFU ?

I have a 'tame' travel agent, who I am good mates with, plus I've got Qantas Club membership (personally paid for, not corporate rates).

I'd like to open a post / get some discussion going on anyone's advice on how to get upgrades, because it's all a bit of a mystery. Some people advocate just asking and being direct, other people say that's the last thing you should do.

Ticket Codes (more)

http://www.gatewayonline.net/quickie/ticketcodes.html

This has a few more ticket codes - but there is one (from an old Herald + tribune article that talks about a 'do all to assist', which is 'even more magic' (according to them). I don't know what this code is, but I can get you the article. There is one called SFU (suitable for upgrade) - but does anyone know, is this physically on your boarding pass, or on the computer ?

The one you don't want is NSU (not suitable for upgrade) - how do you get this ?! :)
