I'm currently ticketed in A for AA178 SFO-JFK. When I booked the flight, it was a 2 class 763. It's since turned into a 3 class 762 flight. The problem is I'm on a DONEx which only allows me to travel in A for 2 class services in North America, which thus renders that bit of my itinerary contrary to the rules.

So I'm wondering if I'd be downgraded to D between now and departure, or will it "fall off the radar"? I'd assume that it'd be spotted during rerouting? Maybe a good idea to leave the rerouting till after that flight is over then? ;)

If your ticket says A and your reseration is in A, my guess is going to be no one at AA (incuding the check-in agent) is going to know any different and you will get to fly in FS F - enjoy. The only possible downside is that you get downgraded to D at or before check-in and don't have your first choice of seats in J.

Have you tried pre-allocating seat ? That might give you an indication of the class of ervice you are booked into.

On a recent pre-allocation of a seat when I was waitlisting for an eVIP to clear they accidentally put me into F but then dropped me down to J a couple of days later - I have a feeling this wont be a good outcome for you...

I seem to recall NM describing being accidentally booked into A on a 3-class AA flight, because the TA was so used to using the A fare bucket. I don't recall that he was chucked back into D.

Fingers crossed ...

was not actually an AA flight, but an AA codeshare operated by another OneWorld carrier. I would certainly be expecting to be travelling in the F cabin on that flight. Probably a good idea not to have the ticket re-issued until after that flight, but even then I very much doubt it would be picked up.

Thanks for the advice. :D

Yes indeed I'm still in A when I opened up the map for seat allocation. They carried over my seat preference from the old plane in fact; I've now changed it to a nicer seat on the new plane. I didn't even know that the aircraft type had changed until I was playing around with 'my reservations' and noticed a 762 instead of a 763. :)

OT: Does anyone have any preference for a specific seat in F on the 762?

I'm currently booked in 2H due to adherence to FEBO, but suddenly realised that there are only 9 seats in the whole cabin and so FEBO might not be as important.

Seatguru and seatexpert both indicate that 2D is a good seat, and it looks like an interesting experience in the 'solo' seat.

FWIW my parents are flying with me and are booked into 2AB.

Comments appreciated. :)

(But of course all will be moot if I get downgraded to D between now and check in...:-|)

I your parents are in 2A/B then the Cpatain Kirk seat (2D) is perfect!

I don't really like the solo seat as I find it a little too "exposed" to all around me. But as alect says, if travelling with people in 2AB, then 2D would not feel so exposed to strangers.

Same reason why I don't like row 83 on LH F despite what seatguru/seatexpert says.

Still tossing up between 2D and 3B. I usually like chatting having a seat mate to chat to, but the clientele in F generally don't appear to be too attractive. If that made any sense. :D

I might go flip a coin. ;)
