Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere, but does anyone have any experience with this sort of scenario:

I have Star Alliance Gold status with Air Canada (thank you HSBC) and am flying on Singapore Airlines later this year. The fare class on my tickets isn't eligible for points earn with AC, so I was thinking I'd add my KrisFlyer number to the booking instead (will also be able to access free WIFI inflight).

I assume getting into the lounge would be no problem, but would I still be able to access priority check in and priority luggage benefits?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Welcome to posting on AFF, @benj . :)

What's your status in KrisFlyer? If its basic, then with your KF number in the booking, would won't be able to access any of those benefits, including lounge access. Your AC status will be invisible.

One trick people sometimes do is to check in & access lounge using one FF program (in your case AC) and once in the lounge, change the FF number in their booking to the points-earning one (KF).

You'll have to find an airline site that will allow you to do the change. This is pretty well documented for Oneworld (rj.com), but I'm not aware of the Star Alliance equivalent. Perhaps someone can give it.

I think there was some discussion in another thread (presumably in the Singapore Airlines sub-forum) that SQ now lets you add one number to a booking for status eligibility and a separate number for points earn? Not quite certain on exact details.

FQTV - frequent flyer account that the miles should be credited to.
FQTS - frequent flyer account denoting which status benefits to use.
FQTR - frequent flyer account that provided miles for a redemption (can be different to that of the Pax flying).
FQTU - frequent flyer account that provided miles for an upgrade.

Getting it to enter and then stick is another matter.
Not all airlines and/or ffps allow this.

I have lifetime Star Alliance Gold through United and when I fly Singapore Airlines I put my KrisFlyer number in the booking to have the points credited to that account. When I check in I use the Star Alliance Gold priority queue. I show my United Gold card to the checkin person to get priority baggage and when I go to the lounge all they want to see is that I have Star Alliance Gold status so I show my United card again. (assuming the lounge accepts Star Alliance Gold and not just Singapore Airlines business class travellers as is the case at Changi where they have a separate lounge for Star Alliance Gold)

Husband and I are Velocity platinum and when we book a J class fare with Singapore Airlines last year, we credited the flights to KrisFlyer to retain Gold status, but flashed our Velocity cards at reception to bring our guests in. They had no issue with that and we still got our Krisflyer benefits.
