Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

I haven't been charged a fee for use in Switzerland, but since there are more banks than you can poke a stick at (and correspondingly bancomats), I'm not going to verify all of them are fee free, and even more so now that I get paid in the local currency. Nevertheless, for the time I was here using the Citibank Plus, I've used my card at various ATMs as well as debit transactions at stores/supermarkets/restaurants etc. with no fee imposed by the bank owning the facility.

I lent my card to a friend as her card application was too late for her UK travel. Using a PIN is all you need to get the card to work at ATMs. The fee free ATM over the road at South Quay DLR in London always works and the exchange rates are brilliant.

Just went to Thailand and Siam Bank (which is everywhere) charged 180Baht fee (more than $6!). Unfortunately no Citi ATMs at the airport that I could find!

It appears as if we're re-inventing the wheel on this topic to some extent.
I just stumbled upon a similar thread on the Whirlpool forum, that gives a fairly comprehensive (and occasionally humorous) overview of just about all you would ever want to know about the CitiBank Plus product.

Received a new card in the mail last night. Was unexpected. The new one looks MUCH better than the old one, arguably looks a lot nicer than my citi signature card :S

Edit : i didn't request the replacement card, did other people receive one?

Yes rollout of chip and pin.

TD Bank in Canada; no fee and exchanged at a whopping 0.2% premium to spot. ;)

Sberbank in Russia (green ATMs) no fee (earlier this year); can't recall the FX to Roubles, but it was pretty good.

Just back from Asia - used the Citibank Plus Debit card for both Citibank ATM withdrawals (TYO, HKG, SIN) and purchases. Two problems - one was with the HKG withdrawl - received an error message saying there was a problem with the card. Citibank Causeway Bay rep phoned AUS for me and I was told likely issue was that their ATM's had not been upgraded to accept the chip technology - Really? HKG? - (HKG Citibank guy said not true) and told to use another bank and that any fees charged would be waived. Went to Bank of China next door - no problem and no fee.

On check in at our hotel in SIN couldn't use the Citibank card for the extra charges authorisation - only a credit card could be accepted - tried to use my Amex (which hasn't yet been upgraded to a chip/pin facility) and it couldn't be accepted because it didn't have the chip. Used a Visa card and then on checkout paid the charges with the Citibank card.

All the hooha about having a pin - anywhere I used the card for purchases I was asked to sign and in one place (Taiwan) I had to both enter a pin and sign!

Now for some clarification - did I understand correctly from reading an earlier post that I could deposit foreign currency (which in turn will be converted to AUD$) into this account in Australia? Slight miscalculation with my JPY withdrawl - thought I took out $100 - not the $1000 that I actually did.

Over the last few weeks confirmed (as usual) no fee in Ireland, UK, Germany, Poland, Austria, Czech Republic.

Not only no fee, but excellent exchange rate as well. A great replace for the 28 degree card as far a cash withdrawals are concerned.

Philippines followed Thailand and started charging overseas cards in the last 5 years. Saying that I use the Citbank atm's in Manila and Cebu.

I've come across in the past few days. I've tried at least six different banks in Manila and all of them charge a flat PHP200 (~AUD5) per transaction.

Yeah it's a rort in Thailand these days, they are all in cahoots and know they have foreigners over a barrel, they must have raked in millions since bringing the 150 Baht (180 Baht in some cases) charge.

Just been thru all my statements for recent trip to Europe.
Citi Visa averaged 3.9% above XE spot rate
Citi Plus averaged 0.49% above XE spot rate
That's a big difference even at 3.33 points per dollar

Bankwest World QFF MC should equal Citi Plus.

No fee anywhere in Italy so far.

PNG ATMs charge fees; ANZ ATM fee increased in the past few months. From memory it is about PGK 20 (about $A9).
