Card Promotions Citi Prestige Credit Card: 300,000 Citi Rewards Points

Just got applied and got approved for the prestige card yesterday on 31 July. While Im waiting for my card to arrive was having a think about how to set up payall payments to a bank account I have access to and had a few qs:

(1) Is it better to set up a single $20k payall payment in one transaction or over multiple transactions? Does a single payment of this level every month draw much attention from the card issuer?
(2) If doing a single payment, would a date somewhere in the middle of the month say the 15 or 16th of each month be ok to avoid most pub hols? (fwiw im in nsw so i dont think we any pub hols that fall on the 15 or 16 of any month except for easter which is always hit and miss). I dont really care about maximising interest - im more interested in simplifying the process

Has anyone had any success increasing the credit limit? I stupidly put 20,000 but want to increase it. Spoke to them on the phone and they sent to write a letter of reassignment. Anyone had any experience with this? I tried the app but that didn't work as I suspect it's due to not waiting 9 months.

Got the card. Thinking of doing a bali trip next year in August, if I book the 4th night free benefit now but lets say I cancel the stay in April or so, will citi clawback the sign up bonus??

Sign up bonus? Or do you mean the credit for the fourth night?

This is not making sense. Why would Citi punish you for not booking a hotel???

Ok. Let me expand on my question.

If I pay for the hotel now which is abt $6k it would be part of the $10k I would have to spend to meet the min spend.

The hotel stay is in August, lets say my plans change around April and I will cancel the stay, then the $6k would be refunded right??

Doesnt that mean technically I did not meet the min spend??

This is assuming of course I would prepay for the hotel now.

The web site states: "The bonus Citi reward Points will be credited to your Rewards Balance within 6 - 8 weeks of meeting the spend criteria.", hence I think you would still get to keep your points.

Most prepaid hotel bookings are no change no refund, that would be where I see the problem is.

It is a very bad idea to ask questions about cheating the system on an open forum.
I don't think you need to cheat in order to spend $10k in 3 months, if you have enough income to get this card.

For what it is worth, when I get one of these promos during a churn, I just go and buy myself a gift card or two. $10k within 3 months? There is at least one shopping centre in Sydney which sells gift cards with a maximum load value of $4999, so I would just go there and buy 2x $4999 gift cards.

I agree that you don't need to cheat. But quite specifically, @Kscf was asking whether he/she could get away with cheating.

If people cheat, the system is likely to be changed to the detriment of everyone - especially if they talk about it in public.

If that's what they were thinking, then yes, don't cheat (not that the hotel would refund anyway)

I just thought that, the hotel would not be doing refund anyway, that surely the poster is not going to risk $8000 for a 1% chance of winning?!

you can make bookings with free cancellation, i did this for my upcoming trip. They use expedia so you may need to request this and pay the additional premium if offered.

The service provider Citi uses though advises that refunds can take up to i think 6 weeks if i recall correctly. Whatever it is though it's an overly long period of time i recall.

really, this is not sensible for posting on a public forum.
not following you, why would confirming a very important aspect of the service not be sensible for posting on the forum? I will only book hotels with free cancellation as i usually book well in advance. It's extremely important to me and something i would want to know if trying to find this on the forum.

If this is in relation to your accusation that the OP is trying to cheat Citi, i don't agree that he has made that intention clear and would give them the benefit of the doubt. either way, my comment is correct and worthy of being posted on the forum as it's aimed at all users not just the OP.

Um, OK, that's interesting. I mostly book prepaid no change no cancellation no refund, and when I do book those which allow changes, they usually don't charge my credit card, so when I read ...

I already thought 'Well, good luck asking the hotel for a refund'.

definitely charged upfront when i did it a few months ago, was told that if i cancel it's a very long refund period, i think 6 weeks. They also rebated me my 4th night, which i assume they would claw back if i was to cancel.

I missed out on the Avios transfer bonus. Besides hoping that another one comes up, are there any other semi-regular transfer bonus' that apply to the other Citibank partners?

they always participate in the velocity bonus in May/November, although last bonus was just the basic where they had previously had a higher transfer bonus than standard.
