I’m curious how you intend to spend your Avios. There are some niche routes where they work well (OTP-DOH-IKA and IKA-DOH-ATQ in my case) but generally they don’t look like the best deal, even with a 30% bonus.

90k points east coast to Europe. Q Suites.

~160k points with VA & QF in J

Plus much less taxes.

Done the math and works for me.

Ha! Due to availability, I just put in a place holder booking to Doha with a hope of finding something onward later. I think QR will let me combine 2 separate tickets together at checkin for baggage, etc and as such I wouldn't need to enter Qatar

I have long ago learned not to be seduced by raw numbers of points. Not all points are equal. Generally I would have valued KF points more than Avios but if you can get OW to Europe in J for 90k Avios that means that I can get value from having them in moderate quantity. Particularly since SQ J seats are so uncomfortable. I’m looking forward to trying the new BA J seats in a couple of months.
