Still trying to piece together a trip to DPS (we've never been) between Christmas/NYE Even considering redeeming QF points for Y if I can find availability!

And.. time to hand in my AFF membership. I just booked MEL-DPS VA Y (yes I know it's cough as I've dont HKT-PER Y before) for the wife and I, Jan 1st-6th. Burnt 90,000 pts but I was looking to burn anyway.. the fact that cash airfares were $2k as well might have something to do with it.

Booked into the courtyard Marriott as well so should be nice to get away. We've had a very hectic year and really haven't had time to sit still but that's life.. and having never been to Bali this should be interesting!

Get out of your comfort zone and walk a little way (or take a gondolier) to have a Bellini or a Martini for me at Harry's Bar ;):) - it's just around the corner ;):p.

Looking forward to showing the kids around for the first time... what's not to like!

Are they old enough to have a drink in Harry's Bar? If so, take the platinum+ credit card ;). Errr, hang on, even if they can only have a Coke, still take the platinum+ CC :p.

Price / Value / Memories ... are they not all valued the same ?

After 3 weeks touring Italy and a week in the darkness of Norway we'll drop the bags in Paris...

Yes, Polar Pioneer. Ushuaia - Antarctica (hopefully stopping off at a few islands on the way) - South Georgia - Falkland Is. Unfortunately it's just a few hours in Stanley and then fly from there to Santiago and home. It's a very small, expedition-style ship, but I'm not going for the accommodation, so that won't be a problem.

Mrs GPH would have that one on her bucket list

My partner and I are going to Chengdu to try to hold a panda for Xmas... will post photos if we are successful in our quest :) Will also be staying at the brand new Hilton in Chengdu, so will let AFF know what we think of it. got a 27 hour stopover in Seoul on the way (with Lifemiles!) thanks to Asiana cancelling our original ICN-CTU flight connection which worked out rather nicely (yay! shopping for me!) - first time a flight change/cancellation worked out in my favour!

We flew to Chengdu last year for the same purpose, I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did. Chinese food has been ruined for me since!

Today we stocked up on chocolate boxes at the Lindt factory outlet for airline and airport staff for our Christmas day flight... may have gotten a little bit carried away.

I'm at home and hosting Christmas dinner on Boxing Day. Will be back from the Maldives later this week.

Then after new years I'm taking 2 months unpaid leave and flying to Japan for an epic hokkaido powder tour. Renting a car and taking a heap of boards to do some real back country riding. There has been a poor start to the season so far, so I'm praying for a series of blizzards before I get there!

Did that last year (though not as long, jealous!) and had a cracking time. Don't think it has been that slow a start, is looking good up around the Furano area and it only takes one day for it to be epic and with 2 months you will get plenty of it.

Me, I head off in CX J on the coming Saturday. Hong Kong for a few days, onwards to Milan, Christmas in Chamomix, a few days in Berlin, 2.5 weeks in Brazil, a couple of days in Buenos Aires and the long way home in Qatar J via Perth to Melbourne. 2x280k J QF awards coming through with the goods, though I would have preferred to come home via SCL on QF or LAN but availability never showed.
