A question for my learned friends... (and of course those I don't know :))

I want to fly from Harbin to Shanghai on Jan 06 2010

The options I have found so far are:

Air China CA1640 via Beijing @ $348.00 each

or...

China Eastern MU 5620 direct @ $315.00 each

Both flights are Y, I cannot seem to find any class except Y. I desperately want to book the flights this week, but I am gagging at buying Y class this far out from a flight - are internationals bookings always Y class in China?

Any help here would be appreciated!

Maybe you need to speak to a TA?

I can see fares for travel from HRB to PVG in C on flight MU5614 for approximately AUD 376.80 per pax. Fare construction is:

Code:
HRB MU SHA 2290C CNY 2290 END FARE CNY 2290 EQU AUD 361.00 XT 7.90CN 7.90YQ

For what it's worth, I can ticket a First Restricted fare on the same flight for USD 401 per pax on expedia.com. I can't find any easy way to ticket the C fare though.

Just asked my PA to contact our corp TA and look for fares other than Y

It seems to be a default fare...

Mr!

I used to live in China (shanghai). Expats always used a Chinese TA. The fares are very cheap when bought in China from a local TA (and you can be a foreigner, no problem).

When I returned last year for a holiday, I prearranged my domestic flights with the local TA again and paid (cash) when they delivered the tickets. The prices are about a third with local TA's.

Find them on expat websites such as shanghaiexpat
