China - never a dull moment!

Thank you for the detailed insight. Originally we were going to take Metroline#2 but flight arrival changed to 11.30pm and we probably wont get out untill 12.15am..
Will see how we feel when we land and book in DiDi if needed. Thanks again
Ih sorry didn't read your arrival time - yeh if its around midnight just take a didi, taxi or transfer service. The service isn't a bad proposition if you haven't been to PVG before.

Or bus! Arriving after midnight I used to take the bus to Jing An was surprisingly quick and cheap!

Under normal arrival times I would definitely recommend the maglev/didi or maglev/Line2 option. The maglev really does shave 50% or more off the total travel time of line 2 alone.

Doing a quick search on Google, lots are saying the maglev closes before my arrival time.

On another note, from peoples park, should i fly out from SHA to HKG or do the trek to PVG.. just to try the maglev? Haha I haven't booked this flight

The maglev closes well before the last flights unfortunately, like 930pm or something.

Defo SHA for departures. It’s only 5 stops from People’s Park, whereas to Pudong I think it’s 7 stops to Loyang Road for the maglev, then have to take the maglev, and walk to check-in.

SHA so much easier!

Given SQ’s severe loadings ex MEL/SYD + extremely tight rdpt inventory + there current ridiculously high comm tix prices any additional capacity to China is a blessing 👍

China online Arrival Card is now live and active*- you can register up to 90 days in advance - I just registered for Dec 16 arrival via 12306 within WeChat - so simple - you do require image of your Passport data page - once uploaded it auto populates - the rest just so pedestrian 👍👍👍

* Credit to David within China Expats WeChat group 👍

You do not need any instructions - just scan this QR code and follow your nose - it is so simple:

My missus tried using this for registration for her and the 2 kids last week. When getting to immigration, the officer only found registration for her but not the 2 kids. Luckily the officer just copied everything from her registration to my 2 kids'. So I think the digital form still have bugs that needs to be ironed out.

Quite possibly so but you are also following along in the WeChat FT China thread where you are seeing all reports stating pax arriving just floating straight through without their digital copies even being checked 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Not uncommon around the world. Make you do something for no apparent reason.

We recently were in Cambodia. When you get your eVisa via email, it says print 2x copies. One to hand in on arrival and one to hand in on departure. Entering, the guy wasn’t the least bit interested and threw it back. Totally forgot leaving nor were we asked to produce one….

SIN - no one checks the online thing.

Indon does, because it’s your customs declaration. But no one asks for the Health check thing - which I suspect a lot of people don’t even bother to do…

I know. I just found it not consistently applied across China ports yet. The immigration officer had a dreaded look when we gave him the QR code. He preferred the paper one as all he had to do is to scan the paper and be done with it.

Another thing if you enter via HK West Kowloon HSR station, the port of enty is listed under Shenzhen in the electronic form. Hong Kong is not listed in the digital form so could be confusing for some people.
