did the river cruise last night in Shanghai.... was excellent!

Yes 2 absolute ‘must do’s’ in SH is night cruise on Huangpu River so you can see the lights on The Bund in all their glory and see the Jazz Band in Peace Hotel - the rest ho-hum

I normally stay in Foshan at the Swissotel which is about an hour by metro to CAN, alternatively at the Airport I find the Novotel very good

Need to stay in Guangzhou to visit a new supplier and haven't been to the city before. Any recommendations on area to stay in for a night? Will be jetting off to HK the next day to visit other people.

172 Linhe Road Central Guangzhou, 510610.

We enjoyed the stay

5-10mins walk to shopping, bus station, subway entrance and major railway station.

sure did... the only thing I bought for myself

was raining most of the day yesterday so was a good way to spend a few hours.
got some stuff for the kids too, my colleague bought an entire suitcase full of stuff, including the suitcase!

now off to Kaifeng today by bullet train for meeting another supplier the next 2 days

If you're going to Shenzhen save the shopping till then, prices are cheaper here than Shanghai.

Eat. Lots of eating to be had.

From xiaolong bai to pot stickers to sweet rice cakes there are a lot of good cheap eats.

Going up one of the observatories on a good day can be interesting too.

I would also recommend going to the Yu garden (and thr surrounding area).

If you have longer stays you can also day trip out to places like hangzhou.

Well not until you meet a guy who throws the bags like a dart.
Sae him finish a turn with two 3 of 4s and collect another four plushes to add to his three piles.



Amazed Disney doesn't cut him off.

I found the model aircraft only at the Shanghai markets as per CE's suggestion, not in Shenzhen really.

Yeah bargain hard, or what you're thinking you want to pay. I got the medium size and got it for $50, could have gone harder but that's the price I was happy to pay about 50% off is possible for 99% of things it seemed

My colleague bought a cheap drone with camera and controller for $18 in Shenzhen, for the kids

My best haul was 3 very large plushies (lke that size) at an Easter Show once. Got Mrs QS hand in marriage soon after.
