China - never a dull moment!

Went onto C Trip to book train from Shanghai to Beijing for 4 July. Sunday the site said tickets were being released on Monday at 1:30pm ( local time). Monday morning all but 1 train for 4 July was sold out. At 1:31pm local time yesterday the remaining train was 'sold out'. Has anyone experienced this before or understand why this would have happened. Looks like I now have to do the domestic flights, which I was not wanting to do. Is there any other site. Might be able to use that is reliable whereby it may have been a system glitch on C trip. I can book trains for tomorrow but nothing for the week of 4 July. I don't think China is celebrating American Independence Day so unsure of the reason of the quick sell out.

Just flew into China yesterday on a Chinese airline. They had COLD beer available......but the attendant still asked me if I would like ICE in it lol.

The flight was in Y on Sichuan Airlines. Quite a good experience in Y and certainly better than the big three.

Checking with China for you Atleastonce.

Edit: Tix are just not on sale yet - check each day up until June 30 and you will see availability every train - July 1 all showing sold out. Keep checking each day my friend.

Thanks Cruiser Elite I have just had an online chat with travelchinaguide. They confirmed not on sale yet because of a new timetable from 1 July. Ctrip were not too helpful so I pre booked through travelchinaguide. Thanks for the info.

Hi everyone,
I am headed to Beijing for the weekend and was wondering, does anyone have a recommendation for tour guides to take me out to the Great Wall? I have contacted Simon Service, but i would be grateful for your advice on the highly likely chance he is unavailable.

IMG_3690.jpgJust getting my new injection holding machine loaded up in China... What!!! a flying forklift

My cheap cough way a few years ago was to take the metro as close as I could to Badaling, then hire a taxi driver for a few hrs

Just picked myself up another couple spare pairs at 9 RMB each. Land back BNE Friday.

For 6 RMB, fake Chinese ID card - question is which one does my white male cough look closest too?

Sunday night run to ATMs, bank has choice of 6 - cool! But only two have money left inside them.

Local KTVs must have had a good night last night

3 hour Business Class CRH trip now, had to bust out EK J amenity back up tissues.

Yes, could have asked - easier to dig out reserves and do like the natives.

Last few minutes before arriving at destination on CRH.

Booked an Ovation of the Seas cruise (well two actually) sailing from Beijing on Wednesday June 14th and then again on June 23rd. We were in Shenyang and a few bargains just popped up. Will be travelling by G train Wednesday morning Shenyang-Tianjin and then Tianjin metro line 9 to Tanggu followed by taxi to the cruise port.

Cruise port in the middle of nowhere.

Looking forward to seeing my record shattered for observing crazy swimwear and inflatable pool toys on a cruise ship.

On the plus side we will probably get excellent individual attention in the concierge lounge on board.

For those frequent travelers in China, does anyone know where I can find a seat map for the G train. I have managed to get tickets that will be delivered to our hotel, and have allocated first class seats, but want to check the location in the carriage. I asked for the last row so we could store our bags directly behind our seats. Second question, for anyone currently in china, which VPN is the best. I have express VPN but need to know if I need to subscribe to a second to make sure. Thanks in advance.
