I am wanting to book on China Airlines as they're now a Qantas partner - but the CA website only allows for Skyteam FF #'s to be entered - is the partnership for rewards bookings only? (I want to purchase a regular fare) I've tried to search flights on the Qantas website specifically - but nothing.

Any help appreciated!!

Keep your boarding pass. Is your flight eligible?
Use your Qantas Points to book a Classic Flight Reward seat via Taipei to over 75 captivating destinations across North America, Europe, Asia and beyond.

You can also earn Qantas Points on eligible flights with a Qantas (QF) flight number between Australia or New Zealand and Taipei.

China Airlines is a full-service carrier (offering Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins), and operates thousands of flights each week across its extensive international network spanning 23 countries.

Book a Qantas flight number to earn Qantas Points

Qantas offers a 'QF' flight number (codeshare) on selected China Airlines flights. So when you fly between Australia or New Zealand and Taipei, where possible choose to book on a Qantas flight number to earn Qantas Points and Status Credits on eligible flights.+

What it 'has" means little , but what you "booked" is important. Booked CI158 or QF8727?
Easy to retro claim via the web site or email.
Does not seem to be full a full freq flyer partnership, so could be problematic.
Please let us know how it works out.
Years ago I used to fly MEL-CHC and CHC-MEL on CI, with CI flight number, but before the QF-CI closer cooperation.

Thanks for the insights - I haven't booked as yet as trying to go MEL>TPE>ICN return - so Qantas website doesn't bring the flights up - tried both multi city and regular - so I was looking at booking direct on the China Airlines website (which would be a CI58 booking)

You will not earn miles and status if you book direct via China Airlines.
You need to book via QF or a travel agent for the QF codeshare.
