Hi all, love this forum and wanted to seek your advice on something I can't quite clarify on the Virgin/Velocity website:

We have just booked return flights SYD-ULURU for (2) adults and (2) children, one is 12 and one is 14. The 14 year old is autistic and is usually afforded a generous degree of dispensation from Virgin Australia airline/ground crew, which is always appreciated. Husband now has Gold Status, so we have automatic entry for him and myself into the Lounge at Sydney before we depart for this trip. We appear to have (2) Lounge Passes from his Silver membership (according to his online profile) and I am wondering if this is enough to get us all in for a few hours one morning.

I understand the rules state that only I Guest and (2) children up to 12 years may accompany a Member, but does anyone here know if the unused Silver passes will constitute entry for our boys?

Thanks in advance.

I would expect that VA will allow you all entry under your husband's Gold status. I don't believe they are overly strict on the number of family members rule.

Lounge passes can be used to add to you guest allowance.

Best option is to enter the lounge as a family, check in and they probably won't ask any questions. Worst case is one asks for the age of your eldest and you use one of your guest passes.

Enjoy the trip!

When I was at the Perth airport last year, we checked in as a family (dad, me and little sister). The receptionist didn't want to let my 11 years old little sister in unless we paid =/ I thought the limit was 12+ but sigh

If one of you was a Gold/Plat/Lounge member she should have been granted access at no extra charge:

Virgin Australia Lounge and Velocity Platinum and Gold members, can bring up to two children aged 3 to 12 years – in addition to their guest allowance – into the lounge at no cost. There is no charge for infants 2 years of age and under.

If you were accessing the lounge with lounge passes, I'm not sure what the rules are there, I'd expect children 3+ would count as single guests in this circumstance.
