checkmytrip.com - brand new format

Oh. I looked at my itinerary yesterday and everything was OK.

I look again now and notice what I can best describe as a very poor and useless user interface with very minimal information. I cannot believe that someone has been paid for this design and implementation.

What was wrong with the old user interface with seat allocations? Where are we supposed to look up seat allocations now? Did someone say there is a premium service version now? They will not be seeing any of my money or even use of their website in the future.

For MEL-SYD-HKG-CAN booking the TA has used Galileo, so at least I can use ViewTrip to check the seat allocation on the international legs (no seat map though).

Agree, it is a step backwards.

Small consolation for the recent changes to checkmytrip, but seat assignments on QF flights can at least be viewed on BA's Manage My Booking using the Amadeus reservation #

According to a reply given to a complaint sent to cmt ( as posted on FT ) , the seat assignments should be returning next week

Personally, Im quite happy with the look of the new one and when the seating assignment returns, it will be as useful as before imo

I do think that there are some changes that are needed

e.g. on one of my bookings it states "Your flight payment has been processed. Changes to the reservation are limited to date and time changes only" . Given that it is a full fare unrestricted 1st class ticket, methunks that this is wrong. If they are going to put something relating to restrictions on the details, then at least make sure that they are correct

The new format is certainly sexier but the seat allocation definitely need to return. At the moment, its completely useless and Galileo is much better.

I have just noticed that the few full economy (ie. Y class) fares coming up are showing as economy restricted. Definitely a bug in the system.

Yes I had a look at BA Manage my Booking the other and noticed that seat allocations for QF, BA and AY flights were showing. Seat allocations for AA flights were not showing as usual.

It would be nice if/when seat allocations return to CheckMyTrip.

For the AA seat assignments ( and to change them ) the AA website will do the trick nicely. Never trust Amadeus records for seat assignments on AA and never trust Sabre records for seat assignments on BA/QF/AY. CMT was never reliable for AA seating

Certainly do not need it to be more professional ... I want my seat maps ... :( .

I sent the following when this issue first arose: and after replying to a canned response I received this:

Now they have implemented the new one 'error free' actual seat assignments are no longer available, so it was yet another canned response.

I'll try again.
I received this response to a further enquiry:

Hello serfty,

As I said the features was normally planned to be online again yesterday unfortunately due to some issue our development team has a delay, so normally it will come back next week.

Thanks,

Have a nice day.

So apparently, it was not a canned response. I assumed with the new format again being launched thats what the guy was referring to.

So I guess we'll just have to wait a little longer.

The line just above "destination information" - "view details click to see additional information including price, payment and flight special requests."

Thanks. I clicked on that link before and didn't bother to scroll down the page.

Hmmm, FireFox wont work with it; but IE did.

Seems to be an attempt to give you the ability to change seat pre-selection using checkmytrip directly. Still some bugs but at least you can see seat allocation. (your seat is not highlighted however)

I, like many others it seems have had trouble with viewing seat preallocations on checkmytrip. my booking was made prior to the changeover adn i previously could view my seats for 2/3 segments (1 is domestic so not pre allocated) but now can only view 1 segments seats'. rang QF to check and they had my still me in the original seats as per the old checkmytrip but new version has just dropped it.

Followed someones advice and used BA's MMB service and it was all their, names spelt and arranged properly, unlike checkmytrip, and showing seat allocations for 2/3 segments. seems redundant to me if their is another more accurate way of viewing seating.

Curious though as to why i can view my seats on BA for a QF booking but cannot see them on QF site though My Account - My Bookings. Anyone know the "logic" behind this one? cheers.

Hmm - I can view my seat selection but I can't open the seat map, much less utilise the seat switching function that people have been talking about.

2nd try - does anyone know how to ensure my AA number is transmitted to the correct airline (ie to identify when a QF agent has done the "American Airlines - AAxx_xx_x" mistake - 90% of the time...), now that CMT no longer shows this info? Someone mentioned on FT to call up the relevant airline and ask whether they can see my status properly? There's MMB on BA.com which works for QF flights but somehow it doesn't pick up AA status well.

I generally find with QF if the flight is paid for, it will show. If it is an award ticket, it will not. You'll need to use BA's or CMT.

FWIW, I can view all my seat allocations and seat maps for a trip with 2x DOM and 2x INT for my INT legs.

I recently got the BA site to recognise my AA status and allow seat selections. If it doesnt work first time you can call the web services number at BA and they can fix it up easily.

A note of caution - and thanks. using the advice given here I used checkmytrip to check seating (thanks for telling me how to do that) on an upcoming flight from LHR-SYD in whY.

I discovered that although WP and with a forward window in the profile I got 38E. A phone call to QF and the seat was changed. So do not assume that what you might expect will be there when you get to the airport. Sadly I also found out that my chances of a points upgrade ain't good either.
