Apart from getting a travel cover/bag for golf, there's also something that Club Glove sells to protect clubs. It's called a Stiff Arm. It's meant to be the tallest item and be the first thing to impact should the bag fall head down first.

I sold mine to a friend of mine 10 years ago when I was walking away from the game and can happily report that it's still being used by his son who's playing all over the country. Having picked up the game again I have just bought another one, along with the Sun Mountain ClubGlider Meridian travel cover.

And yes, did read about the trick of unscrewing the heads of woods (thank goodness for adjustability woods) and storing the shafts upside down (butt end facing up) in the bag too. And the pail trick.

Dammit. First time this has actually impacted me playing golf.

My sticks did not appear from the last flight and so I cancelled todays planned game. Iberia didn’t deliver my clubs following BCN-MAD-DSS (Dakar) flights, so no game at Des Almadies GC on the western edge of the city. (Random fact: westernmost point of the African continent).

Golf bag and suitcase didn’t show after my flight and was told they’d be on a flight an hour later (weird that Iberia was running two flights MAD-DSS an hour apart). Suitcase appeared but not golf clubs, so report lodged. Email the next day says they were still at MAD and will be sent tonight. So, playing the waiting game now. Not convinced they’re going to deliver them to my hotel overnight either.

Have still got a game planned for Saly GC tomorrow either with my sticks, or potentially with hire clubs…
