Hi Community! Just wondering if anyone who's travelled recently can confirm that you can check in golf clubs as part of your luggage allowance, as long as it meets the dimensions' requirements. We are going to NZ and normally, when we travelled with other airlines (e.g. Jestar) we had to pay for oversize luggage for golf clubs. Qantas' website says that sporting equipment (within certain dimensions) can be checked in as luggage, but double checking if I didn't misinterpret the information and someone who's flown recently can confirm. Thank you in advance :)

Yes, definitely. It's quite clear on the web site: "Charges will apply for any baggage carried in addition to your checked baggage allowance. " (Therefore, it follows charges don't apply to the amount that's included in your allowance). https://www.qantas.com/au/en/travel-info/baggage/sporting-equipment.html

As long as the golf bag is within your baggage allowance. Eg: if you buy a basic fare with the one bag, then the golf clubs count as that one bag. If your entitlement is two bags you can take a checked bag suitcase as well as the sticks.
