With thanks to Mr AJ for his push for us all to use codeshares, but with little thought to the fact that our member benefits to move onto to these codeshares. In my case I am flying from PER to the UK in Y, and am using QF3345 SIN-LHR then QF3535 LHR-MAN with no stopover. With my WP status, on QF metal I would be entitled to 3 x 32 bags, but as there is the BA metal from SIN-LHR my baggage entitlement is significantly reduced. Why oh why would we want to move down the codeshare routes MR AJ? (sorry for the lack of paragraph formatting, but this new touch screen ASUS, will not acknowledge the enter key on the keyboard or using touch screen)

Checked in Baggage Allownace on Code Share

It is a bit of a hard one for flights out of PER to the UK at the moment.

I believe that once the EK deal is functioning you will be entitled to your normal QF status allowance as I seem to remember a big deal being made about it all

Re: Checked in Baggage Allownace on Code Share

OK, maybe not as bad as I first thought, I have just looked up the BA site, and I can check 2 bags with them at 32kg as a QF WP at no cost. I wonder if QF checkin at Perth will let me check the 3 bags at no cost, as I could argue that I am flying QF ;) and a such "entitled" to 3 bags. Won't be a problem on way home, as will only be bringing one or at most two bags back to PER.

Re: Checked in Baggage Allownace on Code Share

If your PER-xSIN-xLHR-MAN is all on the one booking then the baggage allowance for the operating carrier SIN-LHR (BA) will be the allowance for the entire journey with IATA resolution 302 (MSC). That is the TC3-TC2 segment.

If you are returning with the same ports in the opposite path, then similarly your allowance LHR-SIN will be the allowance for that journey.

BA do provide additional allowance as posted for WP: (British Airways - Checked baggage)
