Checked baggage through on separate bookings

Q1 >>> If I book QF5 on Classic Plus, can I get interline onto CX170 on separate tickets?
Q2 >>> QF141 arrives AKL at 12:20, would that be enough time to connect CX198 which leaves at 1:25pm?

Cant say much about Q1, but you have to change terminals, as QF5 and QF6/9/10 will come into and go out of T3, while CX will use T1.
Q2, its very tight.
What if you cant get a BP for the CX flight, that means you have to go out into the open area, and then go back into the secured area.
All depends if the CX flight will accept OLCI and a BP thats on your phone, AKL int is a small airport, yes, but it has too many variables.
If you do want to do SYD -> AKL -> HKG, like that, maybe do it with an overnighter in AKL.
Get the evening last QF flight from SYD, to AKL maybe 9.45pm, that gives a bit of leeway, yes, you have to clear immi and NZ quarantine, ... bringing in those fruits into NZ and out again, can see them taken off you, and you pinged $400.
As for the fruits, if they are that important, then the best way would be to do SYD -> HKG direct.

Finally, if I need to collect bags and transfer between QF 5 and CX170, provided there's 6 hours in between, what can I do with 3 checked baggage and a bag of oranges and lemons between flights? Any place that I can store them or check in early at PER?

Thanks!
Cathay is very, very strict on checkin back timing in Perth. Down to the minute. They didn’t let me check my bags in early when I flew this route in Feb. Pretty annoying, thought I’d have some leeway being in J.

QF5 and QF6 are int flights, so incoming into PER, are you doing the orange sticker system?
Bringing fruits, even if WA does not allow it, you are deemed as a dom pax on an int flight, but you will have to pass DAFF in PER T3, so your fruit take will be troublesome.

I think that because on your QF5 flight, you are not really an int pax connecting onto FCO, so QFi in SYD might not do anything, as they would deem you are a dom pax on an int flight, and not an int pax.

I am currently thinking between two methods of going to Hong Kong after this semester:

Option 1: QF5 SYD-PER then CX170 PER-HKG
Option 2: QF141 SYD-AKL then CX198 AKL-HKG

Which both saved more than $1000 and earn 60 - 80 Status Credits more than ex-SYD.

There are luggage lockers located outside the terminal if you have large suitcases - you should also be able to access the Qantas domestic lounges to kill some time before heading to T1.

Or maybe I would do BNE-HKG instead, since it will save me $700 instead of leaving from SYD.
Between Fruits and Status Credits, I would choose Status Credits, and that's why I am choosing between PER and AKL, which will earn me much 80 more SC to HKG, and not needing to fly Qantas.
