Hi,
We are flying JAL business to Syd on a QF booked reward seat, then transferring to QF domestic to MEL on a separate ticket. My question is, does the checked baggage allowance carry over to the domestic flight. I can see that it does if the international flight is Qantas but not sure if the same applies for a One world airline.
Thanks.
P.s the domestic flight is in economy.

My experience has been that whatever the allowances are for each leg of your trip, they’re the ones that are applied on that leg.
So if you’re buying a J ticket from QF on JAL metal, and linking it to a Y fare from QF, then the restrictions on the Y leg will be the same as if you bought that Y ticket standalone … which I think is 1x 23kg bag (even though it appears international JAL allows 2x 23kg bags for economy with no status and 3x 32kg bags for Business with no status - probably a safe policy ‘cos most people with the travelling-experience to be in J won’t be taking that much!).

But … maybe there are exceptions which people who know more’n I can suggest!

See if you can get JAL to through check you to MEL.

Otherwise technically QF doesn't have to honour the extra allowance, though it doesn't hurt to ask.
